The Arab Community Centre of Toronto (ACCT) registered in 1974 is a not-for-profit organization with charitable status and is non-political and non-sectarian. The ACCT’s mission is to enable and empower individuals, families, and communities to lead informed, productive, and culturally sensitive lives. As a non-profit model of excellence, we honour our Arab Canadian heritage through community building and service to those in need of every heritage.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly work with youth under the supervision of the Youth Lead, to help deliver programs activities.
  • The youth worker has to have the ability to be empathetic and build trusting relationships with young people.
  • Organizes and oversees community programs aimed at young people.
  • Provides support and social activities for young people, especially young people from visible minority groups.
  • Staff Youth Drop-In program at 1855 Lawrence Ave., Scarborough one evening a week from 4-8 pm
  • Plan activities for Drop-In on a weekly basis
  • Support youth in preparing youth-led virtual presentations about the environment
  • Assist with chaperoning any youth trips that may take place during the summer
  • Perform admin work
  • Perform research work
  • Attend virtual sessions and prepare descriptions

Requirements:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Able to work 35 hours per week Monday to Friday; remotely or onsite
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Preferably enrolled or a graduate in a post secondary education
  • Enthusiasm for working with newcomer youth
  • Enthusiasm for facilitating youth activities
  • Connect well with youth 13-19 years old
