Position Title: Digital Navigator
We are currently recruiting a full-time Digital Navigator to work from our Etobicoke and Scarborough locations. You will support newcomers to access online and remote settlement services confidently and effectively. You will mentor clients through facilitating workshops and drop-in sessions that focuses on digital literacy topics and tools.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Facilitates workshops and drop-in sessions on increasing digital literacy and familiarity with accessing remote services
- Provides one-to-one digital coaching to clients
- Troubleshoot in online and in-person environments
- Create instructional materials like videos and presentations
- Facilitates online client registration and accesses for settlement workshops
- Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to provide digital assistance
- Coordinates the work of multilingual online volunteer navigator mentors
- Assists creating online navigator mentorship management processes including: orientation, training and multilingual materials to support client digital literacy, and maintaining online privacy and confidentiality
- Commute between offices in Etobicoke, Scarborough and occasional events located elsewhere
- Organizes and oversees community programs aimed at young people.
- Provides support and social activities for young people, especially young people from visible minority groups.
- Staff Youth Drop-In program at 1855 Lawrence Ave., Scarborough one evening a week until 8 pm
- Plan activities for Drop-In on a weekly basis
- Support youth in preparing youth-led virtual presentations about the environment
- Assist with chaperoning any youth trips that may take place during the summer
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Humanities, Counselling, Social Work or related field
- 2 years in client service and group facilitation in-person and via digital platforms; experienced in establishing professional boundaries with clients
- Understanding and awareness of the newcomer experience including an awareness of diversity issues and an ability to work within a cross-cultural perspective
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic. Any additional languages would be an asset.
- Empathic, respectful, and discrete; remains tactful and patient during stressful situations
- Extensive knowledge of the immigration and refugee system and services available
- Broad-based knowledge of community and government resources
- Tech Savvy with strong knowledge in MS Teams, Zoom and web-based applications and online learning platforms
- Knowledge of settlement information and resources is an asset
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as a capacity to self-motivate and work independently
