Position Title: Pre-Placement Supervisor
ACCT is looking for full time skilled talent who thrive in a flexible and innovative environment. The Pre-Placement Supervisor is responsible for organizing and overseeing the community project component, providing real work simulation within community agencies. This role primarily involves proposing and implementing various community projects, as well as supervising work experiences through community-based projects.
Job Description:
- Conduct outreach to non-profit organizations to identify opportunities for the community project component
- Ensure projects comply with Employment Standards Act regulations and obtain City approval
- Conduct at least one site visit of the partnering community agency prior to project approval to ensure a safe workplace environment for youth.
- Ensure that youth work as a team to complete different projects for non-profit organizations in the community.
- Recruit mentors for youth and foster mentor-mentee connections, ensuring seamless communication and meticulous record-keeping of progress and outcomes for every participant
- Support team in creating placements opportunities with non profits including the completion of placement agreements
- Actively participate in facilitating Employment Skills Training workshops.
- Assess any barriers to ensure an effective intervention takes place and provide short- and long-term strategies to ensure the youth’s needs are identified and employment-related goals are established.
- Manage youth attendance records, timesheets, and other youth support items, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submission for payment processing.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager to support the overall goals of the program
- Assist with tracking and documenting participant surveys during the program and outcomes after program completion
- Support outreach to alumni for ongoing check-ins, success story collection and career talks
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and around three years of experience in recruiting or career development.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of integration issues faced by newcomers.
- Three years of experience using counselling/advising approaches and skills (preferably in a career development context).
- A passion for helping youth succeed professionally and strong networking skills to coordinate with potential employers.
- Interpersonal skills – the pre- placement supervisor need strong interpersonal skills to network with not for profit organizations and coach youth who have diverse needs.
- Communication skills – effectively helping youth with their careers requires asking specific questions and listening carefully to get useful insight on what jobs best fit them.
- Highly proficient computer, MS suite (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access), PowerPoint and Publisher, social media (LinkedIn for recruiting).
- Possess and maintains a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Must have a car for business travel
