Seniors Program
As they have a longer history of life lived elsewhere, immigrant seniors often find the cultural transition associated with moving to Canada especially challenging. Whether you are a senior newcomer or have been living in Canada for some time already, at ACCT we value and respect your wealth of experience. Whether you are feeling isolated or excluded due to the ongoing realities of COVID-19, or simply craving deeper connections, you are always welcome here.
As our close-knit community ages, the number of seniors demanding innovative, age-specific programming only grows. Our staff share a profound interest in the wellbeing of our senior members and strive to offer culturally, socially, and emotionally enriching activities which empower an active lifestyle and meaningful engagement with the greater community.
Our Seniors Program is designed to provide you with the tools needed to hone your critical skills, foster community among your peers, and ultimately move toward a healthier and more independent life.
Based on the needs and interests of our participants, we offer weekly programming to adults

Individual Counselling
Immigrating to a new country can be extraordinarily stressful and challenging. If you feel you could benefit from support in the form of one-on-one counselling, simply give us a call to book an appointment. Our counsellors are experienced and empathetic, and sessions are fully confidential. Whether you’re experiencing stress caused by settlement, aging, family or marital conflict, or other related issues, we’re here to help. We provide counselling in Arabic, English, French, Tigrinia, Luganda, Assyrian, and Armehric.
Seniors Support Groups
Immigrating to a new country may be challenging, but it can also be exciting. The desire to share your stories with others is natural. The Seniors Support Group offers a great opportunity to foster new friendships and discover mutual support. Each meeting is also focused on a relevant topic, such as health services, employment, education, recreation, or social benefits, to name a few. We invite you to join this community and learn more about the valuable resources available in your neighborhood.
Accessing resources
Essential resources you can benefit from are there but accessing them is not always straightforward. From government benefits to community support, health services, and information on Canadian laws and rights, our staff are happy to help guide you through the process of accessing any and all resources you’re entitled to. The goal is always to improve and expand your quality of life.
Note
Since the pandemic began, our ACCT senior’s community has been enjoying connecting with each other virtually, and will continue to do so until it’s deemed safe to meet in person once again.
