Applications for our Made by Me program are open! Made by Me is a leadership program for newcomer youth to create and facilitate their own virtual session with learning goals. Selected youth receive a $200 honorarium and 14 volunteer hours.
We have been piloting this program over the past 3 months and have hosted very bright and inspiring youth to present on topics of importance to them. Planned as a program to help youth build public speaking and leadership skills, Made by Me provides youth the opportunity to build a presentation on issues they are interested in and that interest other newcomer youth. Youth work with our counselors to develop presentations and rehearse their sessions. So far youth have presented on coding, body shaming, stress management, public image, bullying, COVID-19 myths, procrastination, rewriting your story as a newcomer, self-care, the gender wage gap, and Photoshop. Eligibility:

- Newcomer to Canada: lived in Canada 7 years or less
- Ages 13-24 years old
- Access to a computer with a webcam
All youth who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited for an interview.
